Despite all the places I’ve travelled, Blk 404 Pandan Gardens remains my favourite placein the world.

As a baby, I helped pick the winning 4D numbers that allowed my parents to buy their first HDB home here — a small miracle that shaped my childhood. Blk 404 became my Hawkins: whereI played, rode BMX, went to Pandan Primary School, and grew up inside a fortress-like estate encircled by Pandan Reservoir.

I documented this block to keep it with me,in case it one day disappears. (Pandan Primary School and Teban Gardens already have.) Photographed by Darren Soh, Blk 404 is now quietly immortalised.
