&Larry was invited to collaborate on “Sew Searching,” a 2012 exhibition by Sandy Ng (Cookie Cutter) and Yanda (donotdesign) that explores alternatives to mass production.

Dolls have always fascinated us — they can be loyal companions yet slip easily into horror-movie territory. For this show, we created a doll that’s “Pretty Scary.” Inspired by Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde, we placed a blonde bob wig on a faceless figurine, then hand-applied more than 700 yellow crystals for a darkly beautiful finish. Tests on both adults and children produced the exact blend of horror and intrigue we hoped for.
