2005
When &Larry began, I rented a large studio to force myself out of familiarity, despite working alone. Most of the startup funds went into machines, minimal renovation, and a three-month rental deposit. There was little left for anything else. What I still needed was a table.
Around the corner on Hong Kong Street, where the studio was first based, I found three discarded wooden pallets. With a small electric handsaw, nails, and screws, and without a proper workbench, I built this table by hand and sanded it down to a smooth finish. The HK Table became the studio’s permanent cutting table and the surface on which most manual work was done. It remains a functional record of improvisation, constraint, and the working attitude that shaped &Larry from the start.
