Reflecting NORMAT’s philosophy of embracing tradition while reinterpreting it for the future, the Indigo Jacket takes inspiration from the classic happi coat, reimagined as a contemporary jacket with a shawl collar. As a sake sommelier who isn’t Japanese but creates sake for a broader Asian palate, wearing a traditional happi felt contradictory. This jacket was born from that in-between space — a respectful nod to heritage, expressed through modern design.

The rope artwork forming NORMAT’s ‘N’ symbol was designed by Kakuo, one of the founders of Buaisou. The result bridges craft and culture — traditional in spirit, yet modern enough to stand on the world stage.
