An emotive anthology of cinematic “love letters” to Singapore, 7 Letters brought together seven Singapore filmmakers and seven personal stories about home. As overall creative consultant, Larry Peh developed the title with long-time collaborator Royston Tan.

Each letter in “Letters” stands for one director and a distinct point of view, while the full word holds them together.

The publication takes the form of an archival box. Overprinted envelopes, photographs, handwritten notes and other personal artefacts turn the anthology into a time capsule that can be opened, held and revisited.

A Labour of Love for All Involved

Singaporean calligrapher Craft Varies created the logotype, directors’ names and limited-edition numbering. Artist Koh Hong Teng illustrated the cover and pages.

The film premiered at The Capitol on 24 July 2015. A cinematic anthology became an object made with the same care as the stories it held.
